Training of judges of the Cour de cassation (Court of cassation) at the European Court of Human Rights

08/10/2021

On 28 and 29 September 2021, about twenty judges of the Cour de cassation (Court of cassation) visited the European Court of Human Rights as a part of an annual training program dedicated to newly appointed judges.

During this two-day training, the judges of the Court discovered the functioning of the European Court of Human Rights and had the opportunity to discuss with the French judge, Mr Mattias Guyomar and with various departments of the ECHR (registry ; legal experts ; department for the execution of ECHR judgements) and of the Council of Europe. The judges also had the opportunity to attend the Grand Chamber hearing held on 29 September on the issue of repatriation of French jihadists’ families who are being held in north-eastern Syria.

This exchange program is part of the international strategy of the Cour de cassation (Court of cassation) and contributes to the dialogue between the Cour de cassation (Court of cassation) and the European Court of Human Rights.
