On 3 October 2022, President Pascal Chauvin attended the opening ceremony of the legal year of England and Wales on behalf of the First President of the Cour de cassation (Court of Cassation).
This historic ceremony, held at Westminster Abbey, introduces the judicial year for judges of the High Court, the Court of Appeal and the Supreme Court and includes a church service and a meeting with the Lord Chief Justice of England and Wales.
President Chauvin also met Estelle Cros, French liaison judge in London, which enabled fruitful exchanges on the different legal systems.
These exchanges were an opportunity to reiterate everyone's desire to strengthen bilateral cooperation between the Court of Cassation and the courts of the United Kingdom, with which relations are regular within the framework of the Cour de cassation (Court of cassation)’s networks (Franco-British-Irish Cooperation Committee, NPSJCEU, etc.).
