Meeting with the First President of the Italian Supreme Court of Cassation

The meeting highlighted the shared desire of the First President and First President Cassano to maintain the close ties between the two Supreme Courts and to strengthen exchanges, both through high-level meetings and through the organisation of a working group, on both jurisdictional and organisational issues.

Discussions at the meeting on 27 June 2023 focused in particular on the issue of the team around the judge and the professional role of the legal assistant, which represents a major challenge for the development of the Court of Cassation's working methods.

Expressing their support for closer cooperation between France and Italy, the heads of the two courts concluded their exchange with the intention of setting up a working group to enable exchanges between the judges of the two courts.

The fruitful exchanges between the First President and the First President of the Italian Supreme Court of Cassation are a manifestation of the First Presidency's new international strategy.
