On 23 May 2022, the Court of cassation met with the Supreme Court of Algeria as part of the Programme of Support to the Justice Sector in Algeria (PASJA) led by Expertise France, during a webinar dedicated to the Documentation, Studies and Report Service (SDER) and to the modalities of indexing and disseminating the case law.
In the continuity of previous cooperation programs ofthe Court of cassation within the PASJA, this webinar gave the opportunity to the Court of cassation to share with its counterparts of the Supreme Court of Algeria a feedback on the missions of the SDER, both in terms of legal research and titling and disseminating the case law.
This webinar brought together Mr Jean-Michel Sommer, president, Director of the SDER, Ms Estelle Jond-Necand, Judge Referee, in charge of the 'Open Data' project, Ms Stéphanie Vacher, Judge Auditor, Head of the Publications Office, Ms Bussière, First President, Principal Expert in charge of the PASJA, as well as Ms Chikhi, Counsellor in charge of the Documentation Department at the Supreme Court of Algeria (DDEJJ), and members of the various offices of her department.
On this occasion, the reforms carried out concerning the prioritization of the decisions of the Court of cassation, the enrichment and digital dissemination of the bulletins, and the methods of implementation and challenges of the Open Data of court decisions were discussed. A feedback was also provided on the methods of searching in the indexes of judgments and the Court's Jurinet and Jurica databases.
At the end of the webinar, the two courts reiterated their wish to continue their close cooperation in the pursuit of the PASJA through the organisation of working meetings between experts and study visits on the identified themes of digitalization, registry management, drafting of judgments and publication and dissemination of decisions.
