Open data of judicial decisions

Open data of judicial decisions consist in making all judicial decisions available to the public, freely and digitally.

One of its traditional missions being the disseminating of case law, the Court of cassation is in charge of implementing the open data of judicial decisions.

Through case law valorization and explanation, this project presents several key challenges in terms of transparency, knowledge and intelligence, information, analysis and research.

The first two steps of the open data of judicial decisions are as follow:

  • September 2021: open data of the decisions of the Court of cassation
  • April 2022: open data of the decisions of courts of appeal (criminal matters excluded).

In order to achieve these goals, the Court has developed a new technical architecture, namely for the anonymization of decisions, in line with applicable laws.

Decisions from other judicial courts will be made available as open data between June 2023 and December 2025, following the timeline decided by a decree adopted on 28 April 2021.
